We now offer free driving lessons to our staff, enabling us to provide continued high-quality services and careers. We believe that learning to drive can be a significant turning point in an individual’s life, increasing their freedom, independence and overall quality of life.

Don't you drive?

Ah yes, the question that, while the person may have helpful intentions, always seems slightly condescending. Don’t you drive?

Come to think about it; I do drive! Thank you for reminding me. The car parked outside my home must have slipped my mind, so I proceeded to wait for the bus for half an hour in the pouring rain.

You aren't the only one

You are not alone if you haven’t yet a driver’s licence! UK young drivers particularly have been on a steady decline since 2018. In 2021, RAC reported that just 2.97 million people aged 16-25 hold a full driving licence, down from 3.32 million in March 2020. While these findings are slightly dated and likely impacted by Covid, the cost-of-living crisis’s crunch is forecast to reduce these stats in the coming year further.

Unfortunately, not everyone could get their driving lessons paid for by parents or as soon as they turned 17- this is no scrutiny. It is absolutely a great help if you can get it! But many people are not afforded a helping hand in these situations. Even if people work hard to fund driving lessons, there are always other expenditures such as rent, bills, a mortgage, dogs, children, Netflix, etc. The bottom line is, passing your test and obtaining a vehicle requires much time, energy, and money which people can’t just muster out of thin air. If only there were some free driving lessons knocking about!

We will pay for your driving lessons

Working in care, we travel to our service users’ homes and support them to access the community. Therefore, the fastest, most accessible method of transport is driving. That’s why we are now offering a fully paid drivers programme for staff who have not yet passed their test.

We consider it a privilege to be able to enhance the quality of life of our team members. This is why we are offering this programme.

We have been working hard to fight for those we support rights to have their own vehicles. That said, not all of our service users have cars.

How does it work?

  • After you have completed a successful induction at 3TCS, we will book you onto the driver training programme- if you require it.
  • This is to be done in collaboration with you so that we can best fulfil your needs. You choose the driver training, agree to our terms and conditions, and we pay for it!
  • You’ll be driving in no time, and as a bonus, you’ll have a safe, secure, flexible career with a robust continuing professional development system. You’ll be part of a team that devotes itself to caring for themselves and others; we have health plans, sick pay, discounts and plenty more benefits here at 3TCS!
